Zdravím, chtěl bych se zeptat, jaký je rozdíl mezi:

  1. " If there was a possibility of going to America, would you ?
  2. " If there was a possibility to go to America, would you ?

I'm afraid neither sentence is idiomatic, for several reasons:

  1. “Would you?” isn't a valid question tag for “if there was …”. You'd have to say “would you go?”.
  2. A possibility sounds odd here. As the possibility is defined (“the possibility of going to America”), it needs the definite article.
  3. “Possibility” sounds odd followed by “to”. It's normally followed by of +ing.
  4. The word “possibility” (direct translation of možnost) is less idiomatic than “chance”.
  1. If you had the chance to go to America, would you? (the most idiomatic)
  2. If you had the chance of going to America, would you? (ok)
  3. If you had the possibility of going to America, would you? (ok, less idiomatic)
  4. If you had the possibility to go to America, would you? (unlikely from a native speaker) See the Ngram.
