Native speaker here, so sorry if i misunderstood something – but i would
take these two :
He will wish he had shown us the book, and
He will wish he showed us the book – to be functionally identical.
Yes, the tenses on shown are different however the „had“ before shown suggests past tense, and showed also indicated past tense.
Am i answering the wrong question? Sorry if so!
If we're talking in terms of the teacher would like to show the book tomorrow I would say : He will wish to show the book.
